AS WE WELCOME THEMIGRANT CHILDREN TO THE UK Southern Rail's Twitter fail Tough new rules to prevent 'broom cupboard' bedrooms More news @guestlistdotnet #BrexitJustice Tragic rail company, Southern called on it's passengers to tell the RMT union how they feel about their strikes - though it backfired when irate passengers turned on the company in- stead. RMT called strikes after disputes over the role of conductors on trains, stating the com- pany has a 'blatant disregard for the safety and security of passengers and staff alike'. Marcus J. Bell has raised £145,000 in his #Brex- it Justice crowdfunding project. He's using the money to sue the politicians who lied through- out the referendum campaign. He already has a team of lawyers who are prepared to take legal action on the liars in court. New measures being put forward by housing minster, Gavin Barnwell will mean landlords can no longer rent out 'broom cupboards' to ten- ants. Landlords renting shared accommodation will have to ensure that each resident should have 70 square feet of their own to prevent people being mugged off with tiny rooms. A SEA OF LIFEJACKETS FLOOD PARLIAMENT SQAURE Around a dozen unaccompanied refugee children have left the terrible conditions in Calais, bound for the UK. Various charities including the International Rescue Committee laid out 2,500 lifejackets on Parliament Square in September. Taken from the beaches of Greece, the sea of lifejackets represented the thousands of refugees who have lost their lives at sea whilst making the dangerous voyage to Europe. Sitting in the shadow of The Houses of Parliament, campaigners wanted to remind MPs of the dangers many desperate people are facing. The lifejacket graveyard was laid out for the UN's Migration Summit in New York and for Theresa May to set out her strategy to ease issues with migration. According to UNHCR 6,940 people have drowned or gone missing between January 2015 and August 2016, a totally unacceptable number of lives which have been needlessly lost. In her speech, May laid out her approach and urged other countries to follow the UK's approach; which mainly consists of injecting money and throwing resources into the region to try keep the migrants there. I mean so far that approach has worked immensly well for us. She also stated that countries should be allowed to keep control of their borders and that European nations should stick to the 'first country safe' rule. Her advice is pretty rich when you consider the UK government has opted out of the EU's refugee quota and will house a pathetic 20,000 migrants over 5 years. The move is a fast-track registration scheme under EU legislation, allowing them to seek asylum in Britain as they have family living here. They'll arrive at the Home Office in Croydon to register before being reunited with their family members who will be waiting for them in nearby churches. The move is the start of a long term plan to bring refugee children over to the UK, though time is running out as the French authorities are dismantling the camp now. Along with the EU rules is a separate UK law; the Dubs Amendment, which allows the Home Office to transfer unaccompanied children over to Britain even without family here. This doesn't come without it's problems though, as working out who is eligible is a mammoth task - only made harder with many people travelling without documentation. Home Secretary, Amber Rudd has said 'Work is continuing on both sides of the Channel to ensure this happens as a matter of urgency'. Charities, including the Red Cross, Unicef and Citizens UK have criticized the government's efforts so far, and highlight that time is running out for the migrants in the Calais camp.
