Polish born, Liverpool based - Sir Troyan Sound has just dropped his lastest album, Steppin Outta Babylon. It's a sick al- bum of some of the deepest darkest dub, so good we made it reggae album of the month last issue. We decided to have a chat with the man, and find out a little of one of Liverpool's finest. 2016 / ISSUE 92 REGGAE 53 Hey, how are you, what have you been up to recently? I'm great thanks! Been very busy with new productions, not only reggae but hip hop and dnb vibe too! Also we're expecting our first princess to be born at the begin- ning of November!! Congratulations man!! How would you describe your current state of mind? Motivated & ready. For those who don't know, tell us a little about yourself. I was born in Poland and moved to UK when I was 18. It's funny cos i came to UK first only for a holiday to see my dad, he used to be trucker here, and I fell in love with the culture and positive people around. From day one when I ar- rived here Liverpool showed me love so I love Liverpool! I treat it like my second hometown. What do you like about the city? It's the best city in England for me! I was living in few different places across UK but when I came to Liv- erpool I knew its THAT place! The music scene is big here, but mostly jungle d&b or electronic Music, not much dub events here when the Rub-a-Glove is gone... So when did you first get into music production? I used to be a professional b.boy since I was 10, then you know when you start ADULT life its more difficult to find the time for proper training sessions, keeping up with good diet and all that. So I started from buying 2 turntables, mixer and couple dubstep records. Then I thought 'mixing, its not enough, I want to make my own music' - and here we are after 8 years of hard work! You've just released a new album, Steppin Outta Babylon. How has that gone down? Any personal favourite tracks? Fav tracks? Hmmm all of them!? Hahaha. It was hard work to finish it up but it was well worth it, the driving force behind every single tune is love for the music! The al- bum name is something I decided to do years ago "step out the babylon system". I already started work on another one so keep your eyes & ears open! You co-run Golden Hands with Mario DTX, how's that going? Golden Hands Recordings, its our baby!!! joking! We started Golden Hands Recs over 2 years ago, the idea was to be independent and release our music under our name. Plus I don't need to worry what to put on my albums, I can do what- ever I want now! When did you and Mario DTX first start working together? How did you meet? What did you like about him? Years ago, cant even remember! Feels like I known him forever. We don't work much together on the music as he's doing more hip hop / experimental stuff - but he's my good friend. He's building a little studio now so deffo gonna work more on some stuff soon. If you could play a gig anywhere in the world - where would you like to play? Anywhere in South America What is your proudest moment? Playing at United Nations of Dub 2015/16 with my Rub-a-Glove family! What is the worst job you have ever done? Hmmm worst thing? maybe that one time when I had to cancel my show 3 hours before I was due to play... transport issues! What are you most in love with right now? My daughter, my dog, music, & cannabis! What would you fill a swimming pool with if it could be anything? Cannabis and good friends!! What Ideas changed your life? Nice To Be Nice Who's the funniest person you know? Maybe not a person but it would be my dog! If you had to start a new life in a new country, where would you go? I think that could be Tenerife. or any other nice hot place. I could make music on the beach! What would your hero super power be and what would you do with it? Hmmm super power? good ques- tion, I'd love to have to power to get all world governments down, give power to the people so every one can be happy and live good - not only minority of world population. Who would be in your ultimate band? Everyone who would want to join; its mission not competition. Something you have to do before you die, which you have not yet done? Release my music on record and see the pyramids in Egypt and South America. Thanks! Thanks for the interview! Stay blessed!!
