FIRST SHOW 2 P.M. AUG. 29
And Will Be
that Purdue benefits most from the league's new division-
al structure, assigned to the lighter West. And this year's
non-conference schedule puts a 3-1 start within the realm
of possibility.
Purdue will have chances to win games this season.
The first step, though, is to just look the part, to field a
competitive, functional team.
They're all big, but this is an important season for Pur-
due.
Year 2 is typically when a new coaching staff can truly be
put on the clock, not in a job-security context in most cases
(and certainly not this one) but in the sense that you just
need to see what this is going to be all about.
This is a season in which results may tell us how much
of last season can be chalked up to the condition of things
inherited and how much wasn't.
The 2013 season was the lowest of lows for Purdue.
The only thing to do is win.
Fan support, recruiting, locker-room morale, it's all di-
rectly affected by winning, or at least competing.
Will Purdue win? I don't know.
I just know it will be better.
But "better" is relative.
