ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 24, ISSUE 6 7 f sages and mantras. "At this time last year, everyone was still trying to feel each other out," fifth-year senior tight end Justin Sinz said. "The coaches were trying to feel the players out, the players were try- ing to feel the coaches out. Now ev- eryone has a real good understanding of what's expected and the coach- es know what they have. I think that makes them better coaches. I think it makes us better players. "I guess I never real- ly valued how important that was until last year when the season was happening, just how im- portant good working re- lationships and knowing what's expected of you on and off the field can be." "I guess it could be fortu- nate that we had that re- cord last season to realize that it can't happen and to push ourselves further this season. "The coaches definitely have pushed the right buttons and hav- en't pushed a wrong button in trying to motivate us for this season and kind of remember last season but not dwelling on it."
