GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 6 • 8 P U R D U E V S . I O W A P H O T O G A L L E R Y Dave Butz was honored in front of the Homecoming crowd for his recent selection to the College Football Hall of Fame. The former Boilermaker defen- sive tackle (1970-72) took time to show off his three Super Bowl rings. Butz joins teammate Otis Armstrong as the last two Boilermakers to be honored, with Armstrong being inducted two years ago. The Boilermakers were able to get decent pressure on Iowa quarter- back C.J. Beathard in the first half. But after spending the majority of the second half on the field, the Boilermakers' pass rush was ineffec- tive in the game's final 30 minutes. Former Boilermaker quarterback Caleb TerBush embraces Paul Griggs while on the sidelines during the game. TerBush was one of several former team captains who were part of a special Captain's Breakfast before the game. Gelen Robinson's second sack of the season late in the second quarter forced Iowa into a field goal try. The Hawkeyes connected, tying the score at 10 before half- time. Robinson, a freshman rush end, is getting more snaps each week. Iowa safety John Lowdermilk could have returned Austin Appleby's interception for a touchdown in the game's final moments. Instead, he went to the ground. Lowdermilk later told Iowa media he did so out of his respect for Coach Darrell Hazell, who had recruited him to Kent State.
