ora Kiesler is ready to play high school basketball
again.
It's been an odd last year for the Purdue commitment
— she pledged the Boilermakers during an official visit
during Homecoming weekend, becoming the fourth for the
soon-to-sign 2015 class — because until getting back into
the game this summer, she had missed months because
of an injury. But this was no ordinary injury; rather, a se-
vere concussion kept her not only from basketball for half
a season.
"I was out of school, out of basketball, out of everything,"
said Kiesler, a 6-foot-6 center at Assumption High School
in Louisville.
It was back in January that Kiesler was involved in a col-
lision with an opponent that resulted in her missing four
months of school. She wasn't even allowed to do class work
and certainly couldn't play basketball.
"I was diving for a ball," Kiesler explained of the play
that led to the injury. "I was going down and a guard, from
the other team, was coming up. She hit me in the soft spot
in my left temple. My head jerked back, and they said that's
what actually probably caused it. I ac-
tually finished the play, which is the
most bizarre thing. I went down and
played defense, and blocked a shot,
came back on offense, then walked
