80 ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 25, ISSUE 2 f Good Early Returns Versyp happy with Boilermakers on season's eve BY KYLE CHARTERS KCharters@GoldandBlack.com A s practices began in early October, Coach Sharon Versyp had a good feeling about her ninth Boilermaker team. In workouts leading up to the official start of prac- tices, the Boilermakers — seven veterans and five newcomers — were showing consistent effort. "Every year we talk about what has to be present for a good team to keep getting better," Versyp said, "and it's having that consistency. Following are more thoughts from Versyp in her Q&A with Gold and Black: Gold and Black: So, do you like this team? Q & A : S H A R O N V E R S Y P Tom Campbell In her ninth season at Purdue, Sharon Versyp likes what she's seen in the preseason from the Boilermakers, particularly in the veterans' ability to welcome in five newcomers.
