A
s practices began in early October, Coach Sharon
Versyp had a good feeling about her ninth
Boilermaker team.
In workouts leading up to the official start of prac-
tices, the Boilermakers — seven veterans and five
newcomers — were showing consistent effort.
"Every year we talk about what has to be present for
a good team to keep getting better," Versyp said, "and
it's having that consistency. That has kind of been a
big thing our upperclassmen and the coaches have
stressed, and I think (the veterans) have done a phe-
nomenal job of bringing in the freshmen and talking
about how every day has to be consistent."
Following are more thoughts from Versyp in her
Q&A with Gold and Black:

In her ninth season at Purdue, Sharon Versyp likes what she's seen in the preseason from the Boilermakers, particularly in
the veterans' ability to welcome in five newcomers.
