Robinson, the senior linebacker, had surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Hazell said. Rob- inson injured the knee against Illinois on Oct. 4 and briefly con- sidered not having surgery and trying to return to the field in his final season. But Robinson's knee never felt really stable, he said. Gilliam's surgery to repair his torn ACL was weeks earlier and went well, Hazell said. MITRIONE HEADLINES BUCKET LUNCHEON Former Purdue defensive tackle and current UFC fighter Matt Mitrione will speak at this year's annual "Old Oaken Bucket Luncheon" in late-November. The Indy Sports Founda- tion event will also include Indi- ana's Doug Cru- san, who played in the 1968 Rose Bowl. FORMER TEAMMATES SQUARE OFF Former Boilermak- ers Josh Johnson and Robert Marve were on the oppo- site sidelines recently in the CFL. Johnson's B.C. Lions beat Marve's Winnipeg Blue Bomb- ers, 28-23. The Lions secured a playoff spot with the victory, their 18th consecutive playoff berth. After starting the season 5-1, Winnipeg has lost eight con- secutive games, sealing its third straight season of missing the playoffs. Johnson has 37 tackles, sixth on the team, and two intercep- tions this season for the Lions. He returned one of those picks for a touchdown.
