The Boilermakers were fired up
when taking the field, looking
for back-to-back road wins in
conference play for the first time
since 2012.
The offense made easy work of
a third-and-one late in the first
quarter when Austin Appleby found
a wide-open Gabe Holmes for a
13-yard touchdown. It was Holmes'
second scoring reception of the sea-
son and fifth of his career.
Raheem Mostert's day did not
start out well, as he fumbled
a kickoff with 12:40 left in the
second quarter. It was recovered
moments later by D.J. Knox and
kept the Boilermakers within
the 20-14 Gopher advantage.
Appleby and Coach Darrell Hazell huddle on the sideline in search of a play call. The Boilermaker
offense was clicking, especially in the first half, as it scored 31 points in the opening two periods.
That was the most in a first half of a conference road game since scoring 35 points in the opening 30
minutes in a 56-21 win on Nov. 7, 1998, at Northwestern.
