GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 9 • 36 the country. Tech won the state's Class 4A title. In the spring and summer, he played up a year in the 17-and- under age division with Spiece Indy Heat on the highly competitive Nike EYBL circuit and finished third overall is assists per game for the season, at 5.8. Whether it was Tech with Ken- tucky signee Trey Lyles or Spiece with five-star big man and Purdue 2015 target Caleb Swanigan, Walk- er's shown an ability to facilitate for elite big men in half-court settings while also thriving in open-court settings. "C.J. doesn't have an ego. He just wants to win," Tech coach Ja- son Delaney said. "He knows when to get other guys the basketball and he's been able to play with great players ... but he's also always known when he's needed to strike and that's what he's done for us the past two years. His role changes this year (to score and lead more) and he's ready to go." Walker chose Purdue over of- fers from Butler, Cincinnati and others and continued interest from Xavier, Florida and more. SINDELAR BREAKS STATE RECORD By throwing four touchdown passes in his team's blowout win over Crittenden High School Fri- day night, quarterback commit- ment Elijah Sindelar became the state's all-time career leader in that category. Sindelar's 134th scoring throw broke the record of 133 previously shared by former UK star and NFL first overall draft pick Tim Couch of Leslie County High School and Ricky Bowling of South Laurel. "It didn't really hit me until a few games ago when I was 10 away," Sindelar said. "That's when it sunk in and I realized, 'Wow, I can actually do this.' "I tried to block it out but it is kind of hard to not pay attention to something like that, so I kind of had it in the back of my head how many I had left. Once I got to 10, I kept track until I broke it. It was a hum - bling experience. It was awesome." The Caldwell County High School star started from his very first game in Coach David Barnes' passing-oriented spread offense and has thrown for more than 12,000 yards since then. "He had a strong arm right away," Barnes said. "Physically he's gotten a lot stronger and put some mass on his body. But he was the guy we had to go to and mentally he was ready. He made some mis - takes right away, which we knew he would, but he learned a lot. A lot of it has had to do with the fact he's not only a great athlete but he's also a very good student." Caldwell County is 9-0 heading into its regular-sea- son finale against Mayfield this weekend, then the postseason. Sindelar is in prime position to win a state championship but also create some separation in the record books. "I'm going to try to set the bar pretty high, but records were made to be broken," Sindelar said. "Someone will hopefully come along and break it and then I can congratulate them on their won- derful accomplishment." FALL COMMITS TO UCF Boilermaker center target Tacko Fall did not make his sched- uled official visit to Purdue this past weekend, a trip that had been on the books for weeks. The 7-foot-5 center committed to Central Florida Tuesday morning over Purdue, Georgia Tech, George- town and numerous others. Fall was the lone center on the Boilermakers' recruiting board with an offer. Michigan 7-footer Seth Dugan has also been seriously recruited and could be offered now that Fall has fallen elsewhere. Dugan said Matt Painter told him his offer would depend on Fall's decision. Dugan is scheduled to officially visit next weekend. Dugan was offered by Xavier to go along with a slew of mid-major offers. He's already officially visited Northern Illinois and plans to visit Davidson, as well. "It'd be awesome, real cool," Dugan said of the possibility of a Purdue offer. "It'd be my first Big Ten offer and from a really successful program. "It would be great." COMMITMENT TRACKER R Running back Markell Jones: The Columbus East running back carried 11 times for 243 yards and touchdowns of 38, 33, 11, 38 and 80 yards in an 82-13 sectional win over South Dearborn.
