The margin
of victory was
decided when
Ryan Santoso
nailed a career-
best 52-yard
field goal with
4:59 left in the
fourth quarter.
Santoso had
missed an extra
earlier in the
game, but was
dead on in this
attempt.
Mostert set sail on Purdue's longest
rush from scrimmage, a 69-yarder,
that set up the Boilermakers' fifth
and final touchdown. It was the
longest rush from scrimmage since
Akeem Hunt scampered 81 yards in
2012 against Wisconsin and the lon-
gest in a road game since Keith Carlos
ran 80 yards in 2010 at Michigan
State.
Hazell used the video board to see
Purdue's fumble recovery at the 8:44
mark of the second quarter. The play
was reviewed and ruled Purdue's ball
as Ja'Whaun Bentley picked up the
second recovery of his career.
Appleby's touchdown with 6:03 left
in the third quarter was Purdue's last
of the day. It gave the Boilermakers a
38-29 lead, tying their largest of the
game. The Gophers pulled out a 39-38
win, an uncommon score, but the
identical one to a heartbreaking loss
in Minneapolis 19 years earlier.
