188 | AUGUST 2015 nshoremag.com PLAY ARTS FESTIVAL MARBLEHEAD FESTIVAL OF ARTS As both the largest and the longest- running arts festival on the North Shore, it's no surprise that the Marblehead Festival of Arts captures our hearts year after year. This year is no exception, with the festival's grand 50th anniversary celebration attracting new artists and old friends to look back on 50 wonderful years—a film retrospective, slideshow, interviews with past winners, and parties and celebrations galore will ring in the half-century with style. Festival volunteers work year-round to raise donations and find the newest and best artists from all over New England to showcase in the famous Artisan's Marketplace, which takes place around the Fourth of July. Festivalgoers can browse and buy work from the best artists in New England— many from our own backyard. 128 Washington St., Marblehead, 781-639- ARTS, marbleheadfestival.org R E A D E R S' C H O I C E N E W B U R Y L I T E R A R Y F E S T I V A L 1 Market Sq., Newburyport, 978-465-1257, newburyportliteraryfestival.org ART GALLERY THE WALSINGHAM GALLERY For the last 12-plus years, gallery owner Kari Bernard has been support- ing artists and delighting art lovers and 1 .
