36 | AUGUST 2015 nshoremag.com DINE ALFRESCO MICHAEL'S HARBORSIDE With two decks perched right on the edge of the Merrimack, Michael's has been a summer party spot for years. A new sushi menu joins the slate of seaside faves like the massive lobster roll and the Seafood Toss, a generous portion of lobster, scallops, shrimp, and mus- sels served over linguine. Kick back with one of 12 beers on tap or try the spicy Harborside Bloody Mary, topped with lemon, lime, and two shrimp while listening to live music Friday nights and Sunday af- ternoons. You can't reserve a spot outside, but the decks are large. Come Monday through Thursday for easier access. There is definitely no place in New- buryport like it. I went here for lunch with my brother for his birthday. We each got a bowl of clam chowder, which was thick and creamy, and the flavor was spot-on. They served bread, which was delicious. For our meal, we ordered the steamed mussels. The white wine garlic sauce was excel- lent. We ate every single mussel. My brother had a local Newbury- port Belgian White beer. I like that they have local beer; that is always a plus in my book. I had a mimosa. I'm not an expert at mimosas, but it was really good." –B.T. 54R Merrimac St., Newbury- port, 978-499-8811, blackcowres- taurants.com/newburyport Michael's Harborside
